Orlando Main Street unites to bring back Ship and Saver Week

This week, a total of 12 of Orlando’s Main Street neighborhoods are coming together to celebrate Sip and Saver Week, a citywide celebration highlighting the diverse, independent culinary experiences of our neighborhoods, the foundation that makes our city not only beautiful but delicious.

“This is one of those rare initiatives where everyone benefits,” said Misty Heath, executive director of the SoDo Main Street District.

“All 12 Main Street neighborhoods are working together to celebrate the uniqueness of Orlando’s neighborhoods, with businesses gaining visibility and residents finding new favorites at affordable prices during a traditionally quiet season. There’s a real camaraderie among the Main Street neighborhoods, and it’s fun to cheer each other on while showcasing the best of the neighborhood.”

Sip & Savor will run from July 24th to August 9th and invites guests, whether local or visiting, to explore unique offerings such as limited-time menus, carefully selected bundles, and even special pricing, and experience each region’s unique culture.

“We’re really excited that Orlando’s Main Street is coming together to support our great restaurants, bars and grocery stores during Sip and Saver Week,” Mike Griffin, executive director of the Orlando City District and chair of this year’s initiative, said in a news release. “Our region is home to some of the most innovative and inspired food and beverage experiences in Central Florida, and this initiative is a great opportunity to enjoy them at exceptional value.”

More than 80 different businesses are participating in this year’s campaign, including breweries, boutique coffee shops, and eateries serving international cuisine. Timed to fit into the gap between Orlando Weekly’s Bite 30 program and Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining, Sip & Savor is a well-timed boost for the company, Heath said.

“Programs like this remind people that our neighborhood businesses need our support year-round, not just during holidays and special events. Summer can be a difficult season for many local businesses, and choosing to have lunch at a neighborhood cafe or meet up with friends at a local brewery makes a big difference.”
