Sunrise, Florida -It’s always a fun time for the world to collide.
Spring training on the horizon, Miami Marlins’s Griffin Conine and Zavier Edwards stopped at the American Bank Arena on Saturday to show the support for Florida Panthers.
After the main first period of Chicago Black Hawks, they certainly liked what they saw.
“It’s always cool to come out and support the team,” said Miami’s promising player and Merlins’ legendary Jeff Conine’s son, Conine. “They have been dominating this game so far, so it was fun. The shots are like 24-3. It was fun to see it. Lots of good energy.”
Konine lives only a few miles away from the link, but Hockey is still the first for Edwards.
As you might imagine, it’s easy to be a fan.
“This was a recent event,” said Edwards, a new star in Southern Florida, which broke out in 70 games in Merlins last season with .328 and .820 OPS. “I’ve been to some games in the last few years. It’s very fun. It’s a high -energy game.”
As a fellow athlete, both players have represented Panthers.
“There is a debate that baseball is the most difficult sport, but hockey blows it off from the water,” Konine said. “It’s all different factors -really well -conditioned, hands (adjustment), their physicality. It’s a really exciting sport.”
In less than a year, it will be Marlins to host Panthers.
This is the first outdoor game in history, Panthers heads further south, and will host a 2026 NHL Winter Classic New York Rangers at the Rondo Pot Park on January 2, 2026.
“It will be surprising,” said Edwards. “For us, it will be sick. Beautiful stadium. Take a hockey there is a huge for fans. We are part of it and get out of our home field Seeing another sport will be a sick experience.
