TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Interference in the eastern tropical Atlantic is expected to result in tropical depression within the next day or so, the National Hurricane Center said.

A low-pressure area near the northwest Cabo Verde Islands produces showers and thunderstorms that show signs of tissue.

As the disturbance moves westward, it can lead to tropical depression the next day or so.

According to the NHC, if tropical depression does not form the next day or so, environmental conditions appear to be favorable for later development.

Tropical depression or tropical storms can form between mid- to late-week periods, moving west-northwest at 15-20 mph through the eastern and central tropical Atlantic Oceans.

The chance of formation in the next 48 hours is 70%.

The chance of formation over the next 7 days is 90%.

The NHC said that in the central part of the central area this week, progressive development is possible as the interference moves north over the Central Atlantic Ocean.
