Pam Bondi fired as US attorney general

President Donald Trump removed Pam Bondi from her post as U.S. attorney general, marking a major shake-up in his administration’s top law enforcement leadership. The decision, confirmed today by multiple news outlets including Fox News and Politico, comes after days of speculation and reflects growing dissatisfaction within the White House over Bondi’s role.

Bondi, a longtime Trump ally who served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019 and became attorney general in 2025, has come under increasing scrutiny for his handling of sensitive Department matters, particularly the release and management of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Critics across the political spectrum raised concerns about transparency and oversight, while some of President Trump’s own allies expressed dissatisfaction with the way the incident was handled.

In addition to the Epstein controversy, President Trump has reportedly grown frustrated with the lack of aggressiveness in pursuing legal action against his political opponents. Mr. Bondi oversaw efforts that targeted several high-profile individuals, but those actions reportedly fell short of the president’s expectations. Despite publicly praising her loyalty and service, President Trump ultimately decided to go in a different direction and announced that Bondi would be transitioning to a role in the private sector.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will serve as acting attorney general on an interim basis while a permanent replacement is considered. This change in leadership is likely to have an immediate impact on the Justice Department’s ongoing investigations and policy priorities, adding to the recent series of high-level personnel changes within the administration.
