In the coming months, Florida voters will consider whether to support or oppose a property tax proposal scheduled to be placed on the state’s 2026 ballot.

But on the other hand, some of Florida’s new tax laws recently signed into law by Governor DeSantis have gone into effect to benefit consumers’ back pockets.

Public schools are scheduled to reopen next month, depending on the county, between Aug. 10 and Aug. 13, 2026, setting new dates for the back-to-school sales tax holiday.

This year, it will start next Monday, July 20th, and run for a full month until August 20th.

Excluding South Florida, archery will begin the 2026-27 hunting season in the Tallahassee area north of State Route 70, and the hunting, fishing and camping sales tax holiday season will run for three months from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31.

Online real estate listing platforms will be required to include estimated property taxes for residential properties listed on the platform. Other tax savings include:

Permanent sales tax exemption for propane tanks under 20 pounds.

Sales tax refund on home hardened products such as impact doors, windows, and garage doors purchased from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029

The Save Our Homes benefit transfers “portability” from abandoned farms to new farms within the past three years.
