The following news has been rewritten in the Florida Daily style.

Anthony Bona receives endorsement from Rep. Toby Oberdorf in Florida House District 85

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Port St. Lucie City Councilman Anthony Bona is campaigning to succeed the term-limited member of the Florida House of Representatives in District 85 and has secured the support of state Rep. Toby Oberdorf.

Overdorf, who currently represents parts of Martin and St. Lucie counties in the Florida House of Representatives, announced his support for Bona this week, citing Councilman Bona’s history of public service and community involvement.

“Anthony Bona has been a consistent force for the Florida Republican Party and the people of St. Lucie County,” Oberdorf said in a statement. “Through his personal and public life, he has consistently demonstrated a desire to serve. Today, I am proud to fully endorse and assist him in representing Martin and St. Lucie Counties as my successor in the 85th District.”

Bona, a Port St. Lucie City Council member and former St. Lucie County Commissioner, welcomed the support and praised Overdorf’s tenure in Tallahassee.

“Tobey has been a strong advocate for lowering taxes and fees, combating human trafficking, and protecting Florida’s natural resources,” Bona said. “I am honored to have his endorsement and support, and I look forward to building on that record as we work to keep Florida free and strong.”

This endorsement further expands the list of supporters backing Bona’s campaign. His campaign said he also has support from Americans for Prosperity, Florida Associated Industries, Florida Realtors, Florida Right to Life PAC, Police Benevolent Association, St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro, State’s Attorney Tom Bakkedahl and several local elected officials from Martin and St. Lucie counties.

Florida House District 85 includes parts of Martin County and St. Lucie County. The seat is scheduled to become vacant in 2026 as Mr. Overdorf reaches term limits in the Florida House of Representatives.
