Florida Attorney General announced the seizure of approximately 18,000 7-OH products statewide

Bell is the official statement of Florida Attorney General James Usmier.

Attorney General James Usmier held a press conference in Jacksonville to provide an update on the statewide crackdown on 7-hydroxymitraginine (7-OH) products. This comes one month after the Attorney General submitted emergency regulations to classify isolated 7-OH and/or concentrated 7-OH as Florida Schedule I Controlled Substances.

“We have wiped out nearly 18,000 dangerous 7-OH products from the shelves thanks to our emergency regulations and the efforts of Florida Agricultural Consumer Services,” Attorney General James Usmier said. “We will continue to protect our children from this poison that is at high risk of abuse and death.”

“Florida is leading the country by cracking down on dangerous Kratom-derived 7-OH. We have already removed nearly 18,000 of these illegal products from the shelves, and we have not stopped.” “Our new emergency rules force manufacturers and retailers to show how much 7-OH is in their products. There is no more vague label. No more hidden. Working with Attorney General Usmeyer and Sheriff’s waters, we are making it clear.

“7-OH quietly entered our community, but the impact was loud and destructive,” Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters said. “This dangerous substance threatens the health and well-being of our Jacksonville families and has no place on our streets. I commend them for taking swift action to remove this poison from store shelves and showing true leadership in protecting Florida people and keeping our communities safe.”

7-OH is a compound found naturally in kratom plants. While occurring naturally, levels are low across Kratom leaves. The isolated or concentrated forms of 7-OH found in extracts, shots, powders, or capsules are much more powerful. These products are often sold as natural or wellness supplements, but can lead to addiction, overdose, and other serious health effects.

Since the emergency sentence was filed on August 13, 2025, there have been 17,895 seized on packages containing a variety of 7-OH products, including gummy, energy drinks, steam, pills, powders and more. These products are employed by the appropriate authorities for incineration.
