Walt Disney World announced Thursday that the revamped Muppet Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park on May 26, the day after Memorial Day.
The resort also shared a playlist of songs for the attraction, as well as some celebrity cameos that visitors can see inside the attraction.
The music you hear inside the car is by the Muppet band Electric Mayhem, and features famous performers. The song lineup is as follows.
• “Walking on Sunshine” with Kelly Clarkson.
• “Love Rollercoaster” with Jennifer Hudson and Questlove.
• “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” with Def Leppard.
• The 1969 Steppenwolf song “Born to Be Wild” features Camilla the Chicken.
• “Song 2,” a woo-hoo song made popular by Blur.
The song was previewed to media members this week, but the lyrics had been tweaked. “Animals born to be wild” is uttered animalistically by an animal character. When “Song 2” ends, a character regretfully says, “Oh, I played song 3.”
Disney said the star lineup includes Orlando’s Wayne Brady, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Yvette Nicole Brown, Travis Barker, Darren Criss, Danny Trejo and Awkwafina.
Hat Trick: Hollywood Studios visitor spies new feature through fence
This ride was previously known as the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Featuring Aerosmith and opened in 1999. The attraction closed in March of this year to transition to a Muppet theme. The relatively short turnaround time indicates that while no major changes are planned to the roller coaster’s rails or ride systems, significant changes to its decoration and theme have been announced.
“Tinseltown’s iconic scenery and landmarks will be given a Muppet twist, and a soundtrack of iconic rock hits performed by Electric Mayhem will keep the adrenaline pumping,” according to a post on the official Disney Parks blog.
The giant guitar in front of the indoor coaster building is being repainted. It is currently covered with scaffolding and blue tarps. The upside-down car that floats above the attraction’s courtyard entrance has already been revised, and the word “Aerosmith” has been removed from the archway.
