The conservative nonprofit Protecting America Initiative is launching an ad campaign to protect the data privacy of American patients by calling for an end to the use of Chinese medical devices in the U.S. health care system.
The group argues that medical equipment made in China threatens doctors’ oath to protect patients. The paper points out how Chinese medical technology companies could potentially give foreign adversaries in Beijing access to sensitive patient information and health data.
A national survey conducted in September found that 75% of Americans are concerned about medical devices made in China.
A November survey of Florida voters found that 80% of voters were concerned that Chinese health care companies operating in the United States would be forced to comply with Chinese Communist Party directives that would put patient data at risk.
The November PAI poll also found that Texas voters overwhelmingly support measures to curb the Chinese Communist Party’s influence over U.S. medical technology and expand U.S. production to protect data privacy.
Chad Wolf, PAI’s senior advisor and former acting secretary of Homeland Security, said:
“Americans trust doctors who are sworn to keep us safe and do no harm. But our safety is at risk when critical medical equipment is manufactured by Chinese companies. Chinese medical equipment opens the door for the Chinese Communist Party to access sensitive health data. Trump The President and his administration will always put America first and protect our patients and our privacy from intrusion by the Chinese government. Patient privacy and national security are important, so now is the time to remove Chinese-made medical equipment from American hospitals and close data backdoors.” There is no room for negotiation. ”

In its report, PAI highlights that the healthcare sector faced more cyber threats than any other critical infrastructure industry in 2024, primarily due to the influence of the Chinese Communist Party.
