“Who said raves were only for humans?”
Chase Bowden, assistant general manager and part-time DJ at BarkHaven, describes the concept behind one of Orlando’s first pet-friendly music festivals. This weekend, the Ivanhoe Village area eatery and dog park will host the first-ever Bark Chella, a pet-friendly twist on California’s massive Coachella event.
This Saturday from 5pm until midnight, dogs and their humans can enjoy sets from DJ CHYMERA and CHASENSPACE, glowing lights, a foam party, Pawlicious doggie ice cream, jewelry and craft sales, bubbles, and lots of high-energy fun throughout the evening.
Since opening in November 2024, BarkHaven has grown its membership program and community, drawing visitors to Taco Tuesdays, Wine Wednesdays, Breed Meetups, Singles Night, Dog Dance Parties, and more to inspire this event.
“We created a smaller version and called it EDC, or Electric Dog Carnival, and it was a huge success for us,” Borden said. “We decided to host a rave-style, dog- and family-friendly EDM event.”

Dogs are welcome and encouraged to attend, but are not required at the event.
“You don’t have to bring your dog. I always say our dog park is like a free petting zoo if you want to come in and play with other people’s dogs,” Borden said.
Other festival features at the inaugural Barkchella include a make-your-own bandana station, a friendship bracelet craft area, art sales from Ohana Aura, apparel from Duvin, and a chill zone with fire pits and tents to relax away from the energy of the stage.

Due to the growing popularity of the dance event, Borden expects several hundred visitors and dogs to show up throughout Saturday night. Based on the success of previous events, the company has identified a niche market for dog-specific events.
“Everyone wants to take their dog everywhere. They’re definitely the new kids, so it’s great to be able to include them,” he said. “Dogs are the easiest icebreaker to start a conversation with anyone. Dogs are literally the happiest thing on earth. It’s hard to feel bad when you’re surrounded by dogs all day.”
Aside from this unique and acclaimed experience, BarkHaven has built a reputation as a vibrant space for dog owners. We feature an off-leash dog park and grooming facilities, a highly rated menu from our scratch kitchen, and a full-service bar with specialty drinks.

This event helps provide a vibrant atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to make memories for newcomers and existing members alike.
“This is no ordinary dog park night. It’s high energy, immersive, and tailored for people who want to party with their pups,” Borden said. “This event will definitely take it to the next level, and we encourage everyone to come early and stay late to experience Barkhaven like never before.”
