“At Girl Scouts, we believe in the magic and scale of the cookie program,” says Citrus Girl Scouts Executive Director Jennifer Wilcox. As cookie season began earlier this month, so did legions of believers who started stocking up on boxes of their favorite Thin Mints and Trefoils. But wait a minute, Caramel Delites. Because new cookies are coming this year. Inspired by the flavors of Rocky Road ice cream, these chocolate sandwich cookies feature a fluffy marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored cream filling. It might become your new favorite? Maybe. But more importantly, the program behind these classic treats acts as…
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson said his office (FDACS) has shut down an illegal door-to-door pest control business targeting Florida residents, imposed a $36,000 fine, and prohibited it from any further sales or pest control operations in the state. The FDACS enforcement action resulted in a $36,000 fine against Mira Home LLC and a ban on Grit Marketing LLC from all pest control activities and sales in Florida for illegally soliciting more than 600 pest control contracts. Florida law prohibits pest control companies from using independent contractors to perform pest control activities and ensures that appropriate supervision, training, equipment, products,…
Brightline Florida, the nation’s only privately operated intercity passenger railroad, is under increasing financial pressure after its second bond payment was postponed in six months, raising new questions about whether private passenger railroads can remain financially viable in the United States without sustained public support. Second missed payment highlights growing stress Brightline Florida said this week that it has deferred interest payments on $1.2 billion of subordinated municipal bonds to Jan. 15 and asked bondholders to waive cash payment obligations. The move follows a missed payment in July and highlights the railroad’s deepening liquidity constraints. In exchange for the waiver,…

When discussing workplace safety, our minds often go straight to hard hats, yellow tape, and “days since last accident” signs. We typically focus on preventing slips, trips, and falls, but in today’s industrial society, staying safe means more than just avoiding physical injury. To truly protect the modern workforce, we must look beyond the basics of equipment checks and field inspections. This includes addressing long-term health risks that are not always visible on a day-to-day basis. The goal for today’s industrial workers is to protect people from both visible risks, such as falling debris, and invisible risks, such as airborne…
Health systems rely heavily on assumed legitimacy. Most people believe that medical professionals are properly trained, prescriptions are genuine, and insurance plans will work when needed. However, recent reports indicate that this trust is increasingly under strain. Investigations have uncovered cases in which appearances mask critical oversight gaps in various parts of the health care system. These developments are not limited to one profession or one region. Rather, it points to a broader pattern of fake credentials, counterfeit products, and misleading reporting quietly infiltrating mainstream channels. A look at recent news in turn makes it clear how widespread this problem…

Rather than replacing existing treatments, ketamine expands the options available to both doctors and patients. Why ketamine is gaining attention in mental health care Many traditional antidepressants affect serotonin and related brain chemicals and can take several weeks to take…
By Florida Daily Investments Broward County Public Schools is facing more than a budget deficit and a series of embarrassing headlines, it is facing a complete breakdown in leadership. At the heart of the district’s dysfunction is a top executive structure that fails to deliver on all three at a critical time: transparency, accountability, and competency. What makes the current crisis particularly troubling is that Broward’s failures are not limited to a single department or a single bad decision. These span academics, operations, finance, procurement, communications, student services, technology, and strategy. This is a clear sign that the problem is…
The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) says some of the Florida Legislature’s top priorities in 2026 will center on the use of AI and ensure that tort reform laws passed in 2022-2023 are maintained. “Florida’s property and casualty insurance market is experiencing strong growth and stability, improving affordability for policyholders thanks to legislative abuse reforms passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor DeSantis,” APCIA said.
