A study by Wallethub compared all 50 states using 18 metrics related to educational quality, including educational achievement, school performance, and gender and racial achievement gaps. Some states offer better education than others.

The top 10 states are:

Massachusetts

Maryland

Vermont

Colorado

Connecticut

Virginia

New Jersey

New Hampshire

Washington

Minnesota

Florida ranked 20th.

The worst situations in education overall include:

Indiana

Texas

New Mexico

Alabama

Kentucky

Nevada

Oklahoma

Arkansas

Louisiana

Mississippi

West Virginia
