Florida Pro Life advocates are cheering on the latest news that abortions have fallen by 28% across Sunshine State.
They praise the drop to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who signed the Heartbeat Protection Act in 2023. The law protects children from abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. The law came into effect in May 2024.
According to the Florida Department of Health Care Administration, there were 60,755 abortions in 2024, from 84,052 in 2023.
“This is a stunning victory in life,” said Linda Bell, president and spokesman for Florida, who is a right to life and a co-founder that does not harm Florida. I said. “I am praised by Congress for passing the Heart Rate Protection Act, which expands promotional protection and provides additional resources for young mothers and families.”
State Sen. Alexis Karatayu praised the news, saying the six-week ban would encourage women to seek adoption or family planning assistance in place of abortion.
Nearby states, Alabama and Georgia, have seen abortion numbers fall due to strict laws. Alabama reports a 44% decline in abortion numbers, while Georgia says abortion procedures have fallen by 19%.
Florida’s right to livelihood emphasized that if the 4th amendment last year in the pro-aboration group passed, it would effectively allow them to request an abortion for some reason until birth. The amendment weakened Florida’s Parental Consent Act, eliminating safety standards that protect women and allowing taxpayer-funded abortions.
“Floridians are not forced to dodge bullets and request taxpayer-funded abortions,” Florida Life to Life said. “Our little girls are safe from predators who want to take them for an abortion without parental consent, and the safety regulations in our clinic will be maintained. They will return to round two. Once we come, we will fight them again.”
