Gatorland is the most popular roadside attraction in the U.S., according to a new study that weighed TripAdvisor reviews, Instagram posts and Google searches from around the world.
The Orlando animal attraction, which has been in operation since 1949, topped Memphis, Tenn.’s Sun Studio in a ranking released by Betway Casino, which analyzed statistics for more than 80 roadside attractions in the United States.
Gatorland features hundreds of reptiles and other animals, as well as alligator wrestling, a zipline course that navigates through breeding wetlands, off-road attractions, Old Florida charm, and an iconic entrance that invites visitors to walk between the jaws of oversized alligators. According to our research, Gatorland has an average TripAdvisor score of 4.4, the second highest of the final top 10, and is featured in 135,932 posts on Instagram.
Four California attractions made the top 10 list, including San Jose’s Winchester Mystery House. Glass Beach at Fort Bragg. Salvation Mountain, a folk art installation. The bright pink Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. In terms of physical distance, the closest location to Orlando beyond Gatorland was Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
Other top winners include House on the Rock in Wisconsin; Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. and Devil’s Punch Bowl in Otter Rock, Oregon.
