The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is adding a live stage show featuring Jim Henson’s characters. “Fraggle Rock: A Space-y Adventure” is scheduled to debut at the attraction on Dec. 22.
The show will feature a fully costumed “walk-around” version of the Fraggles and a puppet version of Doozer made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Brevard County Attractions says it will be a “musical and comedic exploration.”
The storyline follows Gobo, Red, and Uncle Traveling Matt arriving at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and meeting with members of the Exploration Ground System crew. They learn about NASA’s Artemis mission and upcoming moon visit, and talk with real astronauts from the International Space Station.
“‘Fraggle Rock’ has always embraced the idea that anything is possible when we work together and celebrate our interconnected world, and NASA is a great example of that idea,” said John Tartaglia, the stage show’s director, writer and choreographer, in a news release. Tartaglia is the creative supervisor for “Fraggle Rock” at the Jim Henson Company.
The show, produced in the 300-seat Universe Theater, is included in admission to the attraction. This show takes place twice daily at 12:30pm and 1:45pm. The building previously hosted the “All Systems Are Go” experience featuring Peanuts characters and will continue to host regular astronaut encounters.
In addition, the visitor complex will offer a character breakfast incorporating stars from the new show during the Holiday in Space event, which runs from Dec. 21 to 30, excluding Christmas.
