Disney’s Cinderella Castle is preparing for a new painting job

Cinderella Castle, a centerpiece structure at Magic Kingdom Theme Park, gets you a new look that looks like an old fashioned look.

“We bring back classic colour schemes to the castle… we have a rich blues with grey, cream and a touch of gold that is the heart of this castle.

No time slots were announced for the start or end of the project.

Now Cinderella Castle rises to a pinkish rose gold colour. The spire was made of a deeper blue than before. This exterior arrived in 2020. The following year, it was enhanced with gold swags, ribbons and medallions, marking the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. After the celebration ended, the accessories were removed, but the paint remained.

On a journey through the Disney world on August 30, 2025, Walt Disney Imagineer announced that Cinderella Castle, the iconic centerpiece of Magic Kingdom Park, will make an attractive update and change its appearance with vibrant new colors and new charms. Walt Disney Imagineer is reinforcing its architecture by creating new colour palettes inspired by the castle's original, classic look, including hints of grey, cream, blue and gold. The D23 panels cover Disney castles around the world, each with their own unique colour designs, said Katie Gibbs, art director at Immersing.

“It’s not “fits all sizes.” In fact, every castle is treated completely differently,” Gibbs said.

“A good example is the stones at the bottom of the castle. For example, here in Florida, there are seven colors of stones. When you actually paint each stone, you get the actual paint and you get the perfect blend,” she said.

“The other trick we do is to keep the darker colour towards the bottom of the castle, and it brightens as the colour rises,” Gibbs said. “It creates the illusion that the castle is much taller than it actually is.”

Since debuting at Magic Kingdom in 1971, Cinderella Castle has had several looks. One notable version, which corresponds to the 25th anniversary of the park in 1996, transformed the icon into a giant pink birthday cake. It prompted comparisons and rage of Pept Bismor from people who had been waiting for years to take a photo in front of the classic castle.

Repeating the 189-foot-tall castle and its 27 towers can be a royal pain. It houses Cinderella’s Royal Table Restaurant and Vivi Di Bo Vidi Boutique Experience, serving as a gateway between the park’s main street and Fantasyland, and is the background for the stage show.

This job requires a crane and allows you to negotiate a moat at that base. And the castle sits straight in the heart of the world’s most visited theme park.

“We want to be part of magic, but we don’t want to ruin it,” senior project manager Elainson Balgrufleu told the Sentinel during the 50th anniversary renovation.

More castle talk is expected in the next episode of “We We Call It Imagineering.” This will be available on YouTube on September 8th.

“When you step into our park, you see our castle, and that’s what I want to be that wonderful moment,” Colleen Meyers, executive color design and paint for WDI, said in the episode’s trailer.

“We updated the colours every time we repainted it. We want to make sure that every guest coming has the opportunity to get a really beautiful photo with it,” she said.
