Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has called on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to stop recommendations for Covid-19 vaccines for children. DeSantis also called on the Florida Legislature to make a permanent national ban on mRNA mandates and add vaccination status protections to the patient’s Bill of Rights.
“Learning by common sense and sound science, Florida has led ways of protecting patients’ rights, and now is the time to do more to ensure these protections and protect medical freedom,” DeSantis said. “Let’s make Florida a beacon of healthcare freedom, where all patients’ rights are forever enforced by the law.”
The Desantis office also issued this statement regarding the mRNA obligations.
Calls the federal government to end its recommendations for covid vaccines for children
In March 2022, Florida was the first state in the country to issue guidance that healthy children aged 5 to 17 may not benefit from receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. The findings of the study raise concerns that mRNA vaccines are associated with more harm than initially estimated in the emergency permit bond.
In 2021, the FDA was approved and the CDC began recommending Covid mRNA vaccines for children without sufficient evidence or data to provide health benefits. In fact, in clinical trials, children and adolescents who received COVD shots experienced higher rates of side effects, including lower respiratory tract infections. Experimental mRNA shots should not be recommended for children.
Calls Florida Legislature to permanently ban mRNA obligations
On June 1, 2025, current law will sunk several provisions that provide protection against the mRNA vaccine obligation.
If this is implemented, schools and higher education can require students to get an mRNA vaccine.
Additionally, government agencies and businesses can require employees to obtain or be fired from the mRNA vaccine.
Calls Florida Legislature to add vaccination status protection to patient bills of rights
Floridians should not be kicked out of clinics or denied treatment they choose not to take the vaccine.
The proposed language updates Florida statutes to prohibit providers and facilities from discriminating against patients in vaccination situations.
