An Osceola County tradition returns this weekend. Celebrate the start of summer with bull turning and fast-paced horseback riding that attracts local residents.
The 157th Annual Silver Spurs Rodeo will be held this weekend in Kissimmee, offering families a chance to enjoy eight classic rodeo events: bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, women’s breakaway roping and steer wrestling. Dating back to 1944, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi River celebrates the continuation of Osceola Heritage Park’s agricultural heritage with three nights of events Friday through Sunday.
What I started as a support The U.S. military that fought in World War II developed into civil society organizations such as: The number of members is over 300.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve a club that has helped shape the heart of Osceola County for 85 years, and one that has my own deep roots,” rodeo big boss Kay Whaley said in a news release. “We remain committed to preserving the traditions that make this rodeo a cornerstone of our hometown while supporting the nonprofits, youth programs, and families we proudly serve. It is truly an honor to help continue the legacy that belongs to all of us.”
The event begins June 4 with the Miss Silver Spurs Pageant, which begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public and free of charge. At the rodeo, which begins Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., fans can watch the Junior Quadrille team square dance on horseback and enjoy rodeo clowning in between traditional events.

Veterans and active military members can receive a free hot dog or hamburger with a drink by presenting proof of service at the box office.
The Silver Spurs Riding Club, a charitable organization, donates proceeds from ticket sales to support nonprofit organizations such as Opportunity Center Inc. and the Osceola Council on Aging.
