In the charges filed in the Southern District of New York, Mangion is charged with stalking and murdering Thompson on December 4, 2024, on Thompson’s murder day.
The first count charges Mangion by stalking a trip in interstate commerce.
The big ju judge found that sufficient evidence was available to claim that Mangion had traveled across the state via the interstate bus line with the intent of stalking and murdering Brian Thompson.
The second count claims to be stalking through the use of interstate facilities.
The third count claims murder by using a firearm.
Special findings relating to this charge in the indictment noted that 26-year-old Mangion was an adult at the time the crime occurred.
Mangion claims that “we engaged in violent acts intentionally and specifically, and that this act created a serious risk of death…and thus participation in the act recklessly ignored human life, and Brian Thompson died as a direct result of the law.”
The fourth count relates to Mangione’s use of firearms to promote crime.
Allegations that the firearm in question are equipped with a silencer to reduce the sound of gunshots escalate the severity of the crime.
“Luigi Mangion’s murder of Brian Thompson – the innocent man and the father of two young children was a planned, cold-blooded assassination that shocked April 1st, Bondi said on April 1st.
