On the first day of the office, the president retracted nearly 80 executive orders and memorandums issued by President Joe Biden.
President Donald Trump has revoked 19 additional executive orders and actions issued by his predecessors.
In contrast, Trump has worked to cut the federal workforce as part of his government’s efforts to reduce waste. Trump has vowed to set up government efficiency, special committees and advisory committees to cut billions of dollars from federal budgets.
Trump has also eliminated Biden’s use of the Defense Production Act. He said the former president was called to promote his energy transition agenda, including the addition of an electric heat pump and solar panel mandate.
In June 2002, Biden called the Defense Production Act to raise supply to US solar cell manufacturers and declared a two-year tariff exemption for solar panels from Southeast Asia as part of his climate agenda.
The White House said Biden’s actions “have forced radical labor policies and apprenticeship obligations on American businesses and government agencies.”
He also removed Biden’s directive to prioritize union-led policies that imposed unnecessary regulations on industry.
The White House also rescinded Biden’s executive order that “spoofed environmental policy and leaked federal resources to radical biotechnology and bio-manufacturing initiatives.”
In September 2022, Biden signed an order to invest government funds in the US biotech industry. Biden has launched a national biotechnology and biomanufacturing initiative with the aim of strengthening supply chains, improving health outcomes and reducing carbon emissions, according to the previous White House.
Additionally, the president has concluded Biden’s declaration, which established a new national monument on almost one million acres of land. Rather than being used for economic development and energy production, Trump said a huge amount of land is “confined.”
The White House said Trump is fulfilling his campaign pledge to reverse the Biden administration’s “disastrous policies” and “return America to the path to prosperity, security and strength.”
When he signed his first executive order, Trump said his actions were merely the beginning of his efforts to rescind his predecessor’s “disastrous” policies.
