The famous annual selection of the next player in professional football will be held at the National Mall.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump announced on May 5 that the NFL Draft will be held in the country’s capital in 2027 at the National Mall.
“Every year, hundreds of young footballers make their dreams come true. Last week’s NFL teams have just seen last week and are taking part in the ranks with the best young players in America,” Trump said.
He was joined by Commander Washington’s managing partner, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and Josh Harris, managing partner of Mayor of Columbia Muriel Bauzer.
“Hundreds of thousands of football fans will travel around our country and support them in person,” Trump said. “This draft is about celebrating one of our country’s most precious cultural institutions and is an annual highlight for football fans everywhere.”
The 2025 NFL Draft will be held in Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin from April 24th to 26th, and will be held in Pittsburgh next year.
The NFL Draft “can have a huge impact on this community,” Goodell said.
“And that wouldn’t be just an event,” he said. “It will show the world how far the country’s capital has come and where it is heading.”
The NFL Draft is one of the most exciting sporting events of the year as teams try to improve by selecting college players and making deals that could shock the league and fans.
It is marked by prospects dressed in flashy fashion, including sparkly. Top prospects have the privilege of being behind the scenes, so they can take the stage when their names are called.
The 2027 draft will include University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning and nephews of former NFL quarterbacks Eli and Payton Manning. University of Florida quarterback DJ Lagway; Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith; University of Texas Edge Rusher Colin Simmons. University of Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams. University of Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola. Jordan Seton, offensive tackle from the University of Colorado.
Trump’s announcement announced the construction of a stadium campus at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium facility a week after the commander announced the agreement with the District of Columbia. The 65,000-seat venue is scheduled to open in 2030, but the city council will need to approve the project.
