Court documents said gang member Cristhian Ortega-Lopez lived in the Judge’s property building when the illegal immigrant was arrested.
Attorney General Pam Bondy on Friday provided details about the arrest of a former New Mexico judge the day before illegal immigrants and members of the Tren de Aragua gang were allegedly allowed to live in his residence.
“This is the last person we want in our country and we don’t tolerate the judges or other people who hold them,” Bondy said of the suspicious gang members and Kano.
In an interview Friday, the Attorney General said that Cano will take the cell phones of a member of Tren de Aragua and “will defeat him with a hammer, destroy him, take it to the city’s trash can and protect him to dispose of it.”
Bondi added that Ortega Lopez was in the gang or showed signs of being a member of criminal activity. He also had photos on the cell phones of “two beheaded victims” and “sent them” to other individuals, the Attorney General added.
Cano’s wife, Nancy Cano, is also being charged with destroying evidence, Bondy said, adding that Canoz “given an attack rifle that belongs to his daughter (Ortega Lopez).”
Ortega Lopez and other known Tren de Aragua members later went to the shooting range with suppressors to shoot, she said.
Canos said, “It is said that he gave him an attack rifle, an AK-47 and an AR-15 to a oppressor, known (trendea lagua) member. “What happened to our judiciary is beyond me.”
According to court documents filed in April, Ortega Lopez said Nancy Cano was hired to “install a glass door for her” and “continues with some work” for her after being kicked out of the apartment in April 2024.
While speaking to a local media outlet on Thursday, Kano defended his decision to allow illegal immigrants to stay in his home. He also said that if he thought there was a risk, he would never put his family at risk.
Tren de Aragua, MS-13, and Mexican drug cartels were declared terrorist organizations by the government in February.
The Epoch Times contacted an email account that appears to be associated with Cano for comments.
