A man was arrested and confessed to a series of thefts of merchandise from Lowe’s Home Improvement Story in Kissimmee, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release on Saturday, the agency arrested 55-year-old Edwin Ibanetz on Thursday, putting him in prison for grand larceny (felony, two counts), petite theft (mistakes, four counts), and handling stolen property (felony, six counts), and driving license while driving.
On Saturday evening, he remained at the Osceola County Jail, with a total bond of $37,250.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office received delays in a series of retail thefts that occurred at Lowe’s at 4420 Pleasant Hill Road, according to a news release. Loss prevention officials reported six separate theft cases taking place between March 27th and April 2nd.
Surveillance footage filmed the suspect’s vehicle, including the license plate, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Investigators later determined that Ivanes was driving with his license suspended and had an aggressive warrant from Pinellas County for a probation violation.
On Thursday, members of the South Property Crime Division conducted surveillance and observed Ibanez operating the vehicle, the agency said. With the assistance of the patrol unit, traffic stops were made near Old Pleasant Hill Road and Cypress Parkway, and Ibanez was safely taken into custody.
After he read Miranda’s rights, Ibanez confessed all six reported thefts and sold the stolen goods for profit, the news release said.
No additional information was provided by the Sheriff’s Office or was not available in court records.
