The industry ministry overseeing a wide range of advanced technical departments did not provide an explanation.

In July 2022, Jin was appointed party secretary of the Ministry of Industry and was appointed successor to Xiao Yaqin, who was later accused of bribery.

The Ministry of Industry is responsible for overseeing policies for a variety of advanced technology sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and electric vehicles.
