Abber, appointed by Biden, resigned from her post as federal prosecutor on Trump’s inauguration day.
Police have launched an investigation after it was discovered that a former federal prosecutor had died at his home in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday morning.
Until recently, Abbar was a US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia.
It is not yet clear how Aber died.
“As a matter of protocol, an investigation is underway surrounding the circumstances of her death. The Virginia Chief Inspector’s position will determine the cause and method of death,” said Alexandria Police.
Since 2009, Aber has been working with the US Lawyer’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. In his resignation announcement on January 17, Abba said he was charged with violent crimes and child exploitation cases from financial fraud and public corruption.
“I am deeply grateful to Sen. Mark Warner, Sen. Tim Kane and President Biden for giving me the opportunity to lead this office, and Attorney General Garland for his unwavering leadership,” she said. “I am proud of the work I have done with federal, state and local law enforcement partners, enforce the law and build community trust.”
Sheebert described Abal as a proud Virginian who loved her work in the Eastern Region of Virginia.
“We continue to be committed to her life’s work, which is her commitment to seeking justice, as she hoped,” added Sheebert.
