The agency said it was trying to address “long-standing surveillance concerns.”
The latest information Social Security Agency (SSA) says it is moving forward in determining the accuracy of data for individuals who are marked entitled to receive payments but have been marked dead.
“Breaking the records of incredibly older individuals is an important anti-combust measure,” the SSA said, adding that so far, “has not been occurring so far in an inexplicable age individual that SSAs have actually contacted for reconstruction.”
The SSA did not provide details such as the number of individual accounts that were updated. The Epoch Times reached out to SSA on Friday for additional comments.
SSA also said it has paid more than 2.2 million people so far this year more than $14.8 billion in what is known as “retroactive payments,” and has independently identified a reduction of more than $1 billion for fiscal year 2025.
It happened as President Donald Trump said this week that Social Security and Medicaid would not be able to touch on the Republican budget bills going on through Congress.
At a Tuesday night event with News Nation, Trump said “we’re not doing anything in our qualifications,” referring to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security payments.
“If you look at Social Security, and by the way, I think I would say this better than anyone else because I’ve done nothing in the right to hurt people for four years,” he said. “I could have done that. If I were to do that, I would have done it five years ago, six or seven years ago. I’ve never done anything.”
Trump said he will still consider several official qualifications, such as Medicaid, to ensure there is no fraud, waste or abuse.
“There are a lot of illegal aliens who are getting Medicaid that shouldn’t get it, and no one is opposed to removing Medicaid that isn’t allowed to be there. But we’re absolutely nothing to hurt Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.
Since taking office in January, Trump has created Doge to reduce federal spending amid the national debt, prioritizing targeting what his administration calls fraud, waste and abuse.
Several of the administration’s efforts, including ending thousands of federal workers and dismantling agencies, have been met with many court agendas.
