Earlier this month, Congressional candidate Luke Murphy announced that if elected to represent Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, he would work with members of Florida’s Congressional delegation to create the Florida Veterans Association, which will focus on advancing policies that support veterans, military families, and Florida’s defense community.
Murphy, a Purple Heart recipient and veteran of two tours in Iraq, said Florida’s large veteran population deserves stronger representation and a unified voice in Washington.
“Florida has one of the largest veteran populations in the nation, but too many veterans continue to fight bureaucratic battles long after they return home,” Murphy said. “The Florida Veterans Association unites lawmakers to demand improved health care access, mental health services, rapid response for veterans, workforce opportunities, and stronger support for military families.”
Murphy said the caucus will focus on practical, results-oriented solutions while ensuring veterans’ issues remain a legislative priority in Congress.
“Our veterans have fulfilled their mission to America,” Murphy added. “Congress must fulfill its mission to them. We need leaders who understand military service firsthand and who are willing to challenge the broken system that continues to fail our men and women in uniform.”

The proposed caucus would also advocate protecting military installations across Florida, including Tyndall Air Force Base, strengthening national security, expanding veteran employment efforts and improving accountability within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
