Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) said on May 4 that he is “strongly considering” at the New York governor’s race next year, amid speculation about a potential candidacy for her role.
In an interview with Fox News about “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo,” Stefanik said he received “risqué” support to run for the governor, but stopped making the bid official.
“Absolutely, I strongly believe that for decades, “She cited what she called,” and “New York Governor Kathy Hochul and other Democrats in the state caused New Yorkers.” ”
Stefanik said under Hochul’s leadership, New York is working to raise the economic crisis and crime rates.
“Not only Republicans, but also independences and Democrats, New Yorkers are eager to have a new generation of leadership to bring common sense back to our nation,” she said. “So, I’m looking at it strictly, so the pouring of support was incredible.”
Hochul’s office did not respond to requests for comments per publication time.
According to Bio, Stephanik, the sixth term representative of New York’s 21st District, became the youngest woman to be elected to Congress in 2014 and is now the chairman of the House Republican leader.
President Donald Trump previously appointed Stephanik to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, but her nomination eventually withdrew in March to maintain a majority of Republicans in the House. Trump recently appointed his national security adviser Mike Waltz to the role of ambassador.
“As one of my biggest allies, I asked Elise to stay in Parliament to document historic tax cuts, great work, economic growth, and provide safe borders, energy control, peace through strength and more.
Stefanik told Fox News in March that he resigned from the Senate confirmation process for the role of the UN ambassador due to slim margins in the GOP House and “corruption” in New York.
Hochul, who was elected governor in 2021 and became the first woman to hold an office in New York, has previously expressed her intention to seek re-election.
Recent voting data from political analytics firm Grayhouse shows that Stefanik has a strong lead in the GOP primary for New York governor races, earning 44% of the vote compared to Rep. Microler (RN.Y.) and Nassau County executive blues breakman, who is considered a potential candidate.
