On March 13, Columbia University announced that many students who participated in the 2024 acquisition of Hamilton Hall have been expelled or suspended.

New York City – On March 14th, they met outside Columbia University in Manhattan to hear about the recent actions the university has taken against students.

On March 13, Columbia University announced that many students who participated in the 2024 acquisition of Hamilton Hall have been expelled or suspended, with several alumni temporarily withdrawing their diplomas.

The same day, Colombian President Dr. Katrina Armstrong sent an email saying that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had entered the residences of two universities. According to the email, no arrests were made, no items were taken, and no further action was taken.

On March 9, Mahmoud Khalil, a former Colombian student and pro-Palestinian activist who lived in a university residence, was detained on ice and was given an expelling order over the weekend. The event sparked multiple major protests in the week, particularly at Columbia University and Trump Tower.

Students, activists, and even older adults have joined the ranks to protest these events on sidewalks outside of Colombia. They recited their demands in a warm spring air. “Colombia will drop the law and bring back the students,” “Resistance is glory, we will win,” and pro-Palestinians, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Protesters alleged that 28 people were influenced by Columbia’s decision to punish those who took over everything in Hamilton.

A masked man spoke to the crowd and said he was one of the students who were exiled.

“Yesterday I was expelled from Colombia, and nearly dozens of others have been expelled, suspended, or revoked my degrees,” he said, denounced greed and corrupt colleges.

He spoke about the pro-Palestinian protesters having a mind that continues to face opposition, suggesting that people create quick response groups to protect the ice from their neighbours and create safe homes. He concluded his speech with a call to Free Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia University who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on March 9th.

The exiled student did not confirm his name in the Epoch Times.

DHS said on social media site X on March 10 that President Halil’s arrest of President Donald Trump claimed that Halil “activities along Hamas are along Hamas” following an executive order banning anti-Semitism at universities.
