A new report by online media publication Inside Radio analyzes how many podcast listeners are watching the United States celebrate its 250th anniversary.
The analysis focuses on a Kettering Foundation/Gallup survey that found that 1,000 conservative and liberal podcast listeners were unanimous in supporting the right to protest and criticizing government officials on both the Democratic and Republican sides.
Survey results.
freedom of speech. 71% of people listening to liberal podcast influencers said people with extremist views should be allowed to protest and speak out against the government as long as the government is nonviolent.
Among those who listen to conservative podcasts, 40% strongly agreed.
US institutions
Eight percent of liberal podcasters agreed that political leaders are responsible for the nation’s laws and constitution, compared to 26 percent of Democrats. On the conservative side, 33% of viewers of right-wing influencers agreed, compared to 48% of Republicans overall.

vote
54% of liberal-leaning podcast listeners say voting is a very effective way to influence government, slightly higher than Democrats overall. Conservative audiences were less optimistic, with 41% saying voting was very effective compared to 51% of Republicans.
A Gallup study found that podcast listeners feel about the same about civic engagement, the right to protest, and the responsibility of their organizations. These differences were generally larger for left-wing influencer viewers than for conservative influencer viewers.
Inside Radio said, “While podcasters and influencers represent a small percentage of Americans as their primary news source, the findings highlight how emerging media figures may be shaping political attitudes in ways that differ from traditional partisan patterns,” Gallup said.
