US chip maker Nvidia will partner with AI startup Humain, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, to ship 18,000 chips to countries in the Middle East to help power new data center projects.

The partnership was revealed on Tuesday as part of a White House trip to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. With the help of foreign investment, Saudi Arabia has been working to develop artificial intelligence capabilities and strengthen its cloud computing infrastructure.

“AI, like electricity and the internet, is an essential infrastructure for every country,” said Jensen Huang, founder of Nvidia. “Together with human beings, we are building an AI infrastructure that will help Saudi Arabian people and businesses realize their bold vision of the Kingdom.”

The cutting edge Blackwell chip will be used at Saudi Arabia’s 500-megawatt data centre, according to comments at the Saudi Arabia’s Investment Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday. The California company said in its initial deployment it will use the GB300 Blackwell chip, which is currently one of Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips, and was just officially announced earlier this year.
