Vallow Daybell, who represented her, argued that the death of her estranged husband was not a crime but a family tragedy.
On April 22, Arizona ju-deciding judges found his Idaho mother guilty of conspiring to murder his estranged husband Charles Vallow, who was shot and killed by his brother Alex Cox, who died in Phoenix on July 11, 2019.
Lori Vallow Daybell, 51, currently faces three consecutive life sentences in Idaho after being convicted of killing Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, Tyree Ryan, 16, and her current husband’s first wife, Tammy Daybell.
Valor Daybell, dubbed “The End of the Day” by the media, faces another life sentence over the death of Charles Valor.
Maricopa County Prosecutor Trenakay claimed that Barrow Daybell and her brother could plan to kill Charles Vallow, and Vallow Daybell could gather life insurance policies and marry her boyfriend Chad Daybell.
At the time, Cox told law enforcement that he had shot a deadly Vallow in self-defense.
Vallow Daybell, Cox, and Chad Daybell were members of the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter-day Saints. Chad Daybell was an Idaho writer and wrote several religious novels about prophecy and the end of the world.
Vallow Daybell married Daybell in November 2019. Cox died of a blood clot in the lung before being charged in December 2019. Vallow Daybell was subsequently arrested in Hawaii on February 20, 2020.
Vallow Daybell, who is not a lawyer, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to kill Charles Vallow in a trial that began two weeks ago in Maricopa County on March 31.
The ry judge began deliberations on the afternoon of Monday, April 21st and redisclosed them on April 22nd.
In her final argument, Vallow Daybell reiterated the premise of her opening statement on April 7 that the death of her estranged husband was a family tragedy and not a crime.
“The state has given us a lot of evidence in this trial to attack my character, so that you hate me and let me attack my character and say I am guilty regardless of the evidence they have shown you,” Vallow Daybell said.
“The state has not shown you any evidence of a consensus to commit murder. They have shown you evidence of the family tragedy, and they have shown you the sad effects of the family torn off due to the tragedy.”
Chad Daybell is currently awaiting death penalty after an Idaho ju judge declared murder of his wife Tammy and Barrow Daybell’s children.
“The execution of Charles Vallow is not a family tragedy,” Kay told the ju judge on April 21.
