Klaus Schwab resigns as chair at the World Economic Forum

Schwab is one of the most influential personalities in pursuit of global political and business elites.

According to an announcement released on April 21, Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has resigned from his position as chairman of the organization.

“Following the recent announcement, as we enter our 88th year, I have decided to resign immediately and effectively as chairman’s position and as a member of the board,” Schwab said in a statement.

Schwab’s resignation was accepted at an extraordinary meeting held on April 20th.

Schwab, 87, has been tentatively successful by Vice-Chair Peter Brebeck Letomate, unanimously appointed by the board of directors, as he set up a search committee for the selection of future chairs.

Schwab promoted the WEF premium annual event in the Swiss Mountain Village Davos annually, bringing together the world’s political and business elites.

The Davos Conference has been criticized for not having contact with the general public, but has promoted the often obscure, epic climate ideals by the global elite themselves.

“The World Economic Forum will attract political, business, academic, academic, civil society and other leaders in society and shape the global, regional and industrial agenda,” the organization’s website states.

Schwab is also the founder of the Young Global Leaders Forum, whose members include former U.S. Transport Secretary Pete Battigeg. Rohit Chopra, former director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Ibram X. Kendi, Director of the Center for Antibehavioral Therapy Research. Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, according to Influment Watch.

Government leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were also part of the program.

Global impact

Schwab faces criticism of the extraordinary influence that WEF has on world leaders and the positions they have taken on controversial issues such as climate action and stakeholder capitalism.

Unlike traditional business models introduced by Schwab in 1971, focusing on improving shareholder value through asset expansion, it focuses on corporate engagement in social issues and the involvement of social change.

This led to a “tripartite system of collective labor negotiations, including company management, employees and the government,” according to the WEF.

“And it contributed to the welfare state where businesses and employees paid substantial taxes to fund public education, healthcare and social security.”

The organization continues to be a major advocate for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiative.

DEI’s initiative has been heavily condemned by the Trump administration.

On January 20th, on his first day of his second term, US President Donald Trump ordered the federal government to remove all DEI programs.

“Federal employment practices, including performance reviews of federal employees, reward individual initiatives, skills, performance and hard work, and do not consider any DEI or DEIA factors, goals, policies, delegations or requirements,” Trump said in his executive order.

Under Schwab, WEF positions “climate change” as a global existential risk.

“Climate action failures are also considered the most important threat to the world in both the medium (2-5 years) and long term (5-10 years), and are most likely to cause serious damage to society, economy and planets,” the organization said on its website in 2022.

WEF is promoting global consensus, in contrast to the current state-based approach of the US administration.

“My administration has taken action to abolish all discriminatory diversity, equity and inclusion nonsense – these are policies that are absolute nonsense through the government and the private sector,” Trump said in a statement made to participants in Davos on January 23.

“America will once again become a merit-based country. You have to listen to that word: a merit-based country.”
