The 55-year-old was jailed for 10 weeks for assault after punching a man on the street.
Incarcerated MP Mike Amesbury suspended his prison sentence after a court appeal.
Rep. Runcorn and Helsby were sentenced to 10 weeks in prison for punching men on the streets on Monday and appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday for an appeal hearing after three nights at HMP AltCourse.
The honorary record of Judge Chester, Stephen Everett, sitting with two magistrates, has suspended his two years of 10 weeks in prison.
He also ordered Amesbury to perform 200 hours of unpaid work, assume 120 days of alcohol monitoring requirements, take part in an angry management course, and complete a 20 day rehabilitation task.
Everett said it was wrong to declare Amesbury differently, as he added that he is an MP but “that doesn’t mean you can’t take into account that your actions as an MP were simply disgraceful.”
He said: “It was a very wonderful line. We have come to the conclusion that you are a realistic outlook for rehabilitation and therefore will suspend the sentence for two years without criticizing the original sentence for 10 weeks due to significant changes in the last three or four days.”
The former Labour MP arrives at the courtroom in a prison van and is handcuffed and led into the building by police.
His suspended ruling puts the risk of ousting a 55-year-old politician if his members retreat petitions seeking elections.
Amesbury pleaded guilty in January to assaulting a 45-year-old Paul Fellow after continuing his line on the streets of Frodosham, Cheshire, early on October 26th.
Videos performed again at the courthouse show Amesbury punching his mates to his head, knocking him on the ground, chasing him onto the road, and starting to punch him again, at least five times.
He was then asked, “You won’t threaten your lawmakers again, are you (exped) Softrad?”
The appeal hearing was spoken in a prepared statement given in a police interview, claiming that Amesbury was initially approached by men who “scream and scream” about local and national issues, including local swing bridges and immigrants.
In a statement, he told police: “I thought I was about to be physically assaulted by this man. I was terrified, vulnerable to the men and others in the group and cornered me.”
He said the man’s “arms are shaking,” and thought he had no choice to “protect” himself.
Everett said:
The judge ruled him and said Amesbury told police he had “a pack of lies.”
He said, “The truth is, all we saw was you becoming more and more angry and upset.”
“He’s now stayed in prison for three nights,” defending defending Daniel Traverse said.
He said “public shame” and “embarrassment” had a major impact on Amesbury.
He added: “This is certainly a rehab guy. He learns very painful lessons.”
The former Labour MP has been sitting as an independent in Cheshire seat since being suspended by the party after being arrested last year.
Opposition parties are asking Amesbury to resign so that by-elections can be held, but there is no automatic suspension for lawmakers who will sentence them to associate.
At Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, Deputy District Judge Tan Ikram told Amesbury that immediate custody was required “as a punishment and deterrent.”
