INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Eight people were injured Saturday when a driver plowed the vehicle to a Carmax location in the Los Angeles area.
Two people were seriously injured at an Inglewood dealership, while six others suffered minor injuries, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Torres.
In the aftermath video posted on social media, employees rushed out after the damage to a retreating SUV in the building. The vehicle was pivoted into the lobby area and kicked out of the opposite end of the building.
Carmax said the driver is a customer whose vehicle was evaluated. He was later arrested.
“We are grateful for the authorities’ prompt response to this horrifying event,” the company said.
The Associated Press left a message at the Inglewood Police Station on Saturday night.
The incident was initially reported as an active shooter situation, but Torres said it turned out not.
Inglewood is a city located about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
