South Florida high-speed rail, Brightline, announced its long-awaited new round of bondage travel passes for its customers on Tuesday after halting its previous program last year.
The Miami-based company said the new Brightline Pass will allow passengers to choose from 10, 20 and 40 ride options at a fixed price.
Pass prices start at $239.
“Whether it’s a weekday commute or weekend escape, the new Brightline Pass offers reliable modern rides to attract frequent travelers who need to frequent travelers,” Barbara Doral, senior vice president of marketing and commercial strategy, said in a statement.
Customers can purchase through the railway website or app. You can also save 5% on future pass purchases by selecting the Auto Renewal option at checkout.
More options in South Florida
The pricing grid released by the company shows that there are multiple pass options for travel to Florida within the South, but only one for travel between the Tri-County area and Orlando. Brightline offers only a 10-day pass between all South Florida stations and Central Florida in an apparent bid to boost revenue yields on long-haul trains. It’s on sale for $799.
The new pass program replaced the previous program that was cancelled a year ago as management shifted its ability to get back and forth with Orlando International Airport, designed to increase traffic on a 170-mile extension between West Palm Beach and Orlando. Miami, Brightline maintains the station.
The company’s latest monthly ridership report (in March) marked a record of over 280,000 people, up 8% by March 2024. Meanwhile, the average fare rose to more than $61.
After Brightline passed the lucrative 2024 for ridership, a pass and reward program appeared, reaching 3 million. However, the company has listed a spongy net loss of $549 million per year, driven primarily by bond refinancing and high interest costs paid to investors.
Still, Brightline predicts system-wide ridership will rise to 8 million in 2026 as more coaches go online and broaden their commercial relationships with airlines, cruise lines, hotels, sporting events and entertainment destinations. Management is working on intervention agreements with six major airlines where sales begin to flow through accessor rails from the second quarter, according to a report in March.
