AdventHealth has chosen a new leader in its flagship facility in Orlando.
Healthcare providers announced on Monday that Abvel Biri will lead AdventHealth Orlando and will carry out executive oversight of AdventHealth for children. He replaces Rob Denninger, who was recently appointed president/CEO of East Florida Advent Health.
“Abel is a purpose-driven leader who keeps patient care at the forefront and center,” Kari Vargas, CEO of North Market, AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, said in a news release. “His leadership not only reflects a deep commitment to our mission, but also builds a stronger and healthier community, making him the right person to guide AdventHealth Orlando to the next chapter that provides excellent and wholesome care.”
Most recently, Biri spent eight years as CEO of AdventHealth Waterman, leading efforts to expand access and improve care across Lake County, the release said. Under his leadership, the hospital opened a new patient tower, introduced the first robotic surgery program, and launched the county’s first child emergency department.
Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer for AdventHealth Waterman and AdventHealth Orlando. At AdventHealth Orlando, he played a key role in strategic planning and service line development, providing enforcement oversight for programs such as the Transplant Institute and the Digestive Health Institute.
“This opportunity to return to Orlando and lead such an incredible team is a humble honor,” Bili said in a news release. “We look forward to continuing to provide faith-based care for all, which honors our community and respects the healing heritage we have entrusted to.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Walla Walla University and a master’s degree in medical management from the University of Central Florida.
