On May 11th, just after 10am, a woman was walking her dog around Addanson Street and Lee Road. The woman told police that as she continued her walk, Toyota suddenly turned and blocked her path. The driver then pointed the woman a handgun and ordered her to get in the car, but she was able to escape and the SUV drove. Ocala, Fla. (WFLA) – Two Marion County parents were recently jailed for failing to ensure their children were in school. According to the release, Truancy Court Judge Brad King, who oversees both cases, declared one parent six months behind the bar and another 90 days, as he failed to ensure that the child was showing up in class regularly and timely. Hillsboro County, Fla. (WFLA) — After months of protest, the future of Florida state parks has been decided. Governor Desantis signed a new law, passed unanimously by state lawmakers, blocking projects on protected land. The State Parks Preservation Act protects all 175 state parks by preventing developers from building golf courses, hotels, or other commercial projects on state park land. A recent report showing a severe decline in locations covered by Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program funds shows the $42.5 billion stupidity of taxpayers allocated to the initiative.An analysis by the Advanced Communications Law & Policy (ACLP) Institute at New York School found that since allocation was set in 2023, there has been a 57% decline in unused or underserved locations across the US.
