Amazon Prime streams Trump’s “Apprentice”

Amazon said it will stream “The Apprentice,” the NBC reality show that turned real estate mogul Donald Trump into a television personality.

The first seven seasons of the show will only be streamed on Prime Video, Amazon said Monday. Season 1 of “Apprentice” is already available, with subsequent seasons added to the streaming platform every Monday.

The reality TV show first debuted in 2004 and quickly became a hit. The premise of the show includes a group of competitors competing on business-related challenges to become Trump’s “apprentice,” and wins a one-year $250,000 contract to manage the business projects Trump offers or positions within his organization.

The show was created by British television producer Mark Burnett. The credits include several successful TV shows, including “The Voice,” “Survivor,” and “Shark Tank.”

“The Apprentice” ran for a total of 15 seasons, with Trump being the host of all but last season. The show also featured Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric.

The original version of the show ran for seven seasons (seasons 1-6 and 10), but was later reconsidered as a “celebrity apprentice” who is the presence of entrepreneurs and business professionals.

After Trump focused on the 2016 presidential campaign, former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took over as the host for one season in 2017. The show was rebranded as “new celebrity apprentice.”

With the new host, the show was cancelled because it failed to achieve the same success.

“The “Apprentice” is one of the best shows I’ve ever produced,” Burnett said in a CNN-by-CNN statement. “Now, thanks to Prime Video, a whole new audience will experience a new season every Monday.”

Prior to his “apprenticeship,” Trump had already gained fame and recognition through the real estate business, particularly the construction of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Then, in 1986, Trump’s rapid repairs to the Walman Ice Rink, beloved Manhattan postcard icon in Central Park, transformed him into a New York City hero overnight.

Almost 20 years later, the “apprentice” took off explosively, taking Trump’s fame to a new level. According to Amazon, the show’s early seasons were a huge success, attracting an average weekly viewer of 20 million viewers.

“Based on popular demand, President Donald Trump, the original Emmy nominated apprentice, is back for the first time in 20 years!!”

“The Apprentice” streaming is the second deal Amazon Prime has made with the Trump family this year. In January, the Jeff Bezos-owned company said it was producing a documentary focused on Melania Trump, who also serves as the show’s executive producer.

The documentary began filming in December 2024, a month after Trump won the election, and is scheduled to be released in the summer.
