TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Norovirus outbreak was reported on a Dutch-American cruise ship on Sunday. The cruise line will be tracked this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Holland America Eurodam left Port Everglades on February 19th and will return to Florida on March 1st.

More than 80 passengers and crew members have been ill with norovirus on the ship, according to a CDC report. The report states that 79 of the 2,057 passengers, or 3.8%, are sick. The disease affects nine of the 834 crew members, or 1.1%.

People affected by the disease have been reported to experience vomiting and diarrhea, which was determined to be caused by norovirus.

In response to the outbreak, the cruise line reported that it was consulting with health officials to isolate sick passengers, increase disinfection procedures and monitor the spread of the disease.

The recent outbreak of the Holland America Line is the fifth outbreak of cruise ship Norovirus, tracked by the CDC this year. Rotterdam, the Netherlands, USA, docked in Florida on February 14th with 169 norovirus patients.
