Florida (AIF) related industries often poll year-round to measure issues concerning Florida voters. The last few people they have done continue to showcase the costs of property insurance.

The AIF Political Strategy Center released a statewide general election survey for the first quarter of 2025, surveying more than 800 general election voters in 2026.

Top Issues:

For Florida voters, the economic pocketbook issue ranks as the only problem facing Floridians (33%) today (21%) and housing costs (11%), breaking double digits.

When you think about price increases specifically, the top five costs that raise the biggest concerns for Florida voters are:

Real Estate and Homeowner Insurance Grocery/Food Rent/Mortgage Healthcare Cost Auto Insurance

Political environment:

The political environment supports Republicans, with voters preferring the general Republican candidates in the state legislature over the average Democratic candidates at a seven-point margin (48-41%).

Handling the problem:

Republicans perform better than Democrats in most of the issues facing the nation, including the economy (47-22%), reduced inflation/daily costs (39-21%), middle class (41-33%), support for education (42-32%) (42-32%), and protection of individual liberty (48-38%). Multiple voters (42%) believe that neither party does an effective job of lowering real estate and home insurance costs.

President Trump’s approval:

President Donald Trump’s job performance outperforms the water with an impressive 7 points (53-46%), with 45% of voters saying he “strongly endorses” his job performance. The broad coalition built by President Trump in the 2024 election remains where he continues to hold significant benefits among Hispanic and African-American men. Trump holds a +10 approval rating (55-45%) among Hispanics, with almost 4/10 black men also approving his job performance.

Cybersecurity responsibility:

There is strong bipartisan support to protect Florida businesses from frivolous lawsuits over predatory cybersecurity liability claims. 70% of Florida voters agree to meet strict standards to protect personal data from cyberattacks. They should have some protection from cases filed by predatory lawyers, including 80% of Republicans, 58% of Democrats and 67% of independents. Additionally, 82% of Trump voters and 57% of Harris voters agree to the proposal.

Business Rent Tax:

Several voters have approved the elimination of business rent taxes on Florida businesses. 38% of voters agree that Florida will eliminate business rent tax, compared to 24% of voters who disagree. Republicans overwhelmingly support the scale with a margin of 34 points (49-15%), while independents also support the scale with six points (34-28%). Additionally, voters from all income groups support double-digit measures, including low-income voters that approve 14 points (36-22%), 16 points (38-22%) and high-income voters with 16 points (41-25%).

Voter registration:

As of the 2024 book closure, current statewide voter registrations show Republicans continue to increase their voter registration advantage over Democrats with a registration advantage of 1,157,794 (8.1%). Currently, Florida has 14,246,241 active registered voters. This includes 5,632,888 Republicans (39.5%), 4,475,094 Democrats (31.4%), and 4,138,259 independents (29%). Since the voter register shutdown in 2020, Republicans have seen the net profit of +434,462 voters, while Democrats have seen the net loss of -848,179.
