Watch: Three boats rescued after the boat veiled Capucha Island

st. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Coast Guard rescued three sailors from Capucha Island early Sunday morning after the family lost contact with them.

The family contacted the Watchstander in St. Petersburg in the Coast Guard sector around 1am Sunday after hearing last from three sailors around 8pm at the 20-foot center console.

“It is important to complete a float plan with your loved one before heading out on the ship. The float plan provides information to the first responder such as the intended route, how many people are on board, which safety devices are available, and more. USCG reportedly found three sailors sitting on proper health, a Clearwater MH-60 helicopter airway at the Coast Guard Air Station.

The crew pointed the fort Myers Beach boat crew into the scene at the Coast Guard Bureau, and safely loaded the three-person boat.

The rescued sailors were taken to emergency medical services at the Coast Guard Station.

“Thanks to the rapid coordination of the Coast Guard and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, we were able to find and save three sailors thanks to the use of important search tools,” Werre said.

The cause of the cap size is currently unknown.
