The 4-year-old walked barefoot through the still dark Tamarak neighborhood early Sunday morning. She was chasing her father. His father was dressed in black with a 9mm handgun, following his estranged wife running from house to house.
Seraphine had already seen her father’s shooting and her maternal grandfather, David Ponser, 64. .
Nathan Ginless, 43, allegedly shot and killed his 34-year-old wife, Mary Gingles, and his unsuspecting neighbor, Andrew Ferrin, 36, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
After the shooting, Seraphine was lured and subject to an amber alert. Deputies found her with her father, who was leaving Walmart in North Lauderdale late that morning. Nathan Gingles was arrested there and charged with three murders. The judge ordered him to be held Tuesday afternoon to prevent him from being held.
The Florida Department of Children and Families did not respond to an email Tuesday asking for information about the girl’s status. The judge ordered Nathan Jingles not to have direct or indirect contact with her.
On several occasions, Seraphine told her mother that Nathan Gingles wanted her to die, Broward County Court records show. And Mary Gingles said in a court petition in December that he hopes he will try by the end of February.
History of domestic violence
Court records show that the gums were in the process of divorce. Mary was torn into one petition for protection in December 2024 for the “Concerns About What Nathan Doed” page from October to December, and he allegedly placed a tracking device in his car. I do.
According to a December petition, she had previously reported to the sheriff’s office past incidents of alleged domestic violence. Another petition filed on February 9, 2024 shows that the history of domestic violence was at least 2022 in Germany, where Seraphine was born.
The petition said Seraphine told her mother many times. In mid-December, Mary Gingles took the girl to the Discovery and Science Museum, where she talked about her favorite dinosaurs during her trip.
“…She said she liked dragons because her dad bought a dragon pet and she said, “He just wants to kill you, but he buys me a dragon pet.” I asked her to explain in detail, and she said, ‘Daddy just wants to die,'” Mary Ginless wrote in a December petition.
Almost two weeks later, Mary Gingles and her husband exchanged custody of the girl in public. After Nathan Gingles left, Seraphine told her mother: He’s trying to let you die,” the petition said.

“This is not the first time Nathan said he told her he was about to kill me, or he graphically explained how he wanted to kill me,” wrote Mary Gingles. . “This is not surprising because he told me.
Mary Gingles listed seven different dates on alleged domestic violence incidents and wrote in the petition that she was afraid of her life.
She said in the petition that Nathan Gingles had a gun along with the silencer.
“He’s already taking steps to prepare to kill me, but I’m waiting for a convenient time,” she writes. “I think if there’s no restraining order, he’s likely to try this before the lease goes up at the end of February.”
One of the neighbors on the block, David Bennett, said that the other neighbors carried several guns outside the house where Mary Jingles lived, and then took their stock in the driveway. He said he had been witnessing it for some time in past law enforcement agencies carrying several guns.
“I don’t know if he still got a gun he had previously owned from BSO with a silencer, but if he doesn’t, he says he wants to stab our daughter and air. I’ll explain why I say I’m making embolism notes, because these are all easy-to-obtain means of killing me without his weapon,” Mary Gins wrote.
In the home where Mary Gingle lives and Ponser was shot and killed, lawmakers find an open gun lockbox and send an injunction to domestic violence with the name of Nathan Gingle’s lying on the kitchen table. Found it, the affidavit said. The injunction said he was not in contact with either Mary Gingles or the little girl.
“I’m trying to protect you.”
Ferrin’s uncle John David was in the house he shared with his nephew who was sleeping at the time of the shooting. He said 10 shell casings were found in his home, but he had not heard of a single shot.
David said he didn’t know if Ferrin had opened the door to make Mary slurp inside, or if the door was locked and ran. He was killed.
“Someone he didn’t know,” David told the Sun Sentinel. “Someone he didn’t know, he was trying to protect…”
The neighbor called 911 and the woman and child screamed, and later heard nine gunshots.
David said that deputies handcuffed him at his house but would not tell him what had happened at first. He didn’t see his nephew or Mary getting awkward in the house.
He believes that more should have been done to protect Mary Jingle, given that he filed multiple petitions for protection and filed alleged violations of them.
“Why wasn’t he arrested? Why wasn’t he arrested until he showed up and killed three? That’s my biggest question,” he said.
Ferrin’s long-standing close friends David and Amanda Camacho, the Sun Sentinel Ferrin is the gift of natural care with entrepreneurship, and dotted to his family and the best for the people of his life. A version of itself that he said he was someone inspired by people.
“I want people to know that he existed, that he was important and that he was important to so many people. And he was wasted by this meaningless act. “It had the potential,” Camacho said. “And it’s a shame we couldn’t see how bright he was because he still gives us more light and more kindness.”
David tells him that Ferrin is his nephew, son and best friend. Ferrin has been said for over a decade by his family and David’s first nephew baby, he said. He described him as a “beacon of light” and often acted as “mother’s chicken” for those he loved in his life, including his uncle. Ferrin contributed to their home, cooking and cleaning, and they shared a routine together watching their favorite shows on weekly pizza and taco nights for dinner.
“He was our baby. He was like a baby in the family,” David said. “He loved everyone to die, and was a community-raised kid, and that’s what made him special for all of us… he was everything we could be.”
David said he was not going to go back to the house he shared with.
“I lost my nephew and my house in a day. I will never be able to return to that house again… I will no longer be able to live there,” he said.
