TALHASSEE – President Donald Trump said he would support Rep. Byron Donald in Florida’s 2026 governor’s race if Napoli Republicans choose to run.
In a Truth Social Post on Thursday night, Trump wrote that Donald would “have my full and full support.”
“I know Byron very well. I’ve seen him being tested at the best and most difficult levels. He’s a complete winner!” Trump wrote.
“Run, Byron, Run!” he added.
Donald, rumored to be running, replied with X: “The announcement is approaching!”
The Miami Herald also reported earlier this month that it would be an immediate blow to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is considering a run to replace him at the governor’s mansion.
Donald, a former state legislator who was once close to DeSantis, dropped out with governor after supporting Trump in the presidential primary.
Since then, Desantis has been trying to throw support behind someone else in 2026. Last month, the political committee he manages announced that it will be used to ensure support for strong conservative governor candidates.
Desantis will fly to Washington, D.C. on Friday to meet with various federal agencies.
Other Trump allies, including former US Rep. Matt Gaetz, are rumoured to be interested in running for governor, but Trump has been promoting Donald for months. Trump introduced Donald at an inauguration day rally, stating, “What is this future in sight?”
