TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida’s new Attorney General has been sworn in and he’s running. After taking the oath of office, James Usmeer was in office with Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Cabinet holding an emergency meeting to implement immigration enforcement action.
Desantis called Uthmeier the Bulldog as Chief of Staff for his administrator. In the first act of his new job, he is working on illegal immigration.
“We will use the Attorney General’s office to punish criminals, protect innocent people, and do things that stand boldly by brave law enforcement,” Usmeyer said.
Uthmeier previously served as the governor’s chief of staff, but before that he was an advisor to the governor who oversees all the state’s litigation and legal work.

DeSantis said the new Attorney General will be extremely important in this new era of American governance.

Desantis said he has the authority to remove local leaders from his job and fines for those who don’t stay in the law. It sparked protests in Tampa Bay over the weekend.

Uthmeier will serve until the end of his current term as Attorney General in 2026. He is then entitled to carry out two additional four-year terms.
Uthmeier has appointed Larry Keefe as executive director of the state Immigration Executive Committee. Keefe serves as Emperor of Public Security. Keefe organized a relocation flight in September 2022 to carry Venezuelan immigrants to Martha’s vineyards. Keefe will contact local state and federal officials.
