Stuart, Fla. (WFLA) – A semi-truck driver has been accused of sending his mother, a three-year-old child and a vehicle to the Florida Canal after switching lanes on the highway.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said a hit and rank rush occurred along Stuart’s Canner Highway around 9am.

Deputy Florida was hospitalized after a patrol car collided with a train: Report

The 69-year-old Alton Winters cicada driver switched lanes to attack a female driver, pushing him down the highway into the pond.

Witnesses told authorities that the impact of the collision caused the female vehicle to flow down the road. Winters slowed down temporarily, but went out to a local produce company.

The driver was able to free herself and her 3-year-old from the car and arrive at the bank. The two were taken to a nearby hospital where they had minor injuries.

Winter was stationed and arrested at the Stuart Police Station on charges of leaving the scene of the collision due to injuries and inappropriate lane changes.
