CLAKESVILLE, Tenn. — Two people have been charged with the death of a Fort Campbell soldier who was stabbed nearly 70 times last year, police said Saturday.
35-year-old Sofia Rodas is being charged with first-degree murder and is tampering with evidence of the death of 23-year-old US military first-class Katia Dunas Aguilar, Clarksville Police Department, in a news release. I stated. Aguilar’s body was found in May at his home in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Aguilar’s husband, Reinaldo Salinas Cruz, is accused of tampering with evidence of her death. Both 40-year-old Salinas Cruz and Rodas were handed over to Clarksville on Friday after they were both detained on unrelated federal charges, police said. Their federal case lawyers did not immediately return the call on Saturday.
Price-related details were not available immediately.
Dueñas Aguilar of Mesquite, Texas joined the Army in 2018 and came to Fort Campbell on the Kentucky border, Tennessee a year later. She was a member of the 101st Fighter Air Brigade in the 101st Airborne Division.
An autopsy report from the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s office said Dueñas Aguilar suffered 68 stab wounds to the neck and upper body.
Prosecutors ruled the cause of death as the cause of the murder as a result of a sudden neck injury.
