Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that $7 million in funding has been awarded to the military community through the Florida Commercial Defense Infrastructure Grant Program. This grant program supports infrastructure projects deemed to impact the military value of facilities within the state.

Since 2019, more than $21.2 million in grants have been awarded to the military community to support infrastructure and local economies.

The Defense Infrastructure Grant Program supports local infrastructure projects that positively impact the military value of facilities within the state by addressing intrusion, transportation and access, housing, utilities, communications, environmental, and security needs. I will.

Funds will be used for projects that benefit both local communities and military installations.

The 2025 award includes funding for several impactful projects. Highlights include $3 million for intrusion protection near Homestead Air Reserve Base, $1 million for a recovery hub in Key West and nearly $609,000 for affordable military housing near Naval Air Station Pensacola. . Other grants will strengthen infrastructure and security in counties such as Escambia, Clay and Santa Rosa, ensuring long-term benefits for both military personnel and local residents.

“Governor DeSantis’ focus on military infrastructure continues to secure Florida’s position as the most military-friendly state in the nation,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “Today’s award will impact military bases across Florida and strengthen surrounding communities for generations to come.”
