
Eager viewers of the ceremony swearing Donald Trump in as the 47th president quickly noticed that his left hand was not resting on the Bible held by his wife, Melania Trump.
Trump was sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at noon on Monday, January 20th.

Trump became the second president in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms. The only other presidents were Grover Cleveland in 1885 and 1893.
Trump took the oath of office without touching the Bible
Trump, the oldest person to be sworn in as president of the United States, did not place his left hand on the Bible held by his wife, Melania Trump.
The oath of office began as the family took office.
Roberts began taking the oath of office as Trump’s family still gathered around him.
What Bible did First Lady Melania Trump have?
Melania Trump was holding a Bible given to her by Donald Trump’s mother in 1955.
She also carried the Bible that President Abraham Lincoln used to take the oath of office in 1861.
Social media users were quick to comment that President Trump did not place his hand on the Bible during his oath of office.
The inaugural parade, troop review ceremony and ball are scheduled for January 20th.
Inaugural events are still ongoing, including President Trump’s inaugural address, the Office of the President’s signing ceremony, military review, presidential parade and reception, and several inaugural balls.
The presidential parade begins at 3pm ET.
The parade, traditionally held down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House, will be held indoors at Capital One Arena.
Two Florida groups are scheduled to participate in the 2025 inaugural parade.
