FDLE re-arrests Brooksville man accused of trying to steal elderly victim’s identity

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — A Brooksville man previously arrested on child sexual abuse charges is back in custody after authorities accuse him of plotting to flee the country using his status as a disabled elderly man.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested 62-year-old Paul Warber on a charge of aiding and abetting exploitation of an elderly person, a third-degree felony.

Wallaver was initially arrested by FDLE officers on June 10 on charges of possession of child sexual abuse material and promoting sexual performance by a child. He was later released from the Hernando County Jail after being granted bond.

According to FDLE, investigators received a report on July 18 that Mr. Woolaber was planning to leave the United States to avoid prosecution. Investigators allege that part of the scheme was to steal the identity of an elderly disabled man.

Investigators executed a new search warrant on July 22 at Wallaber’s Brooksville residence. FDLE said investigators collected documents and electronic communications corroborating witness accounts of Ms. Wallaber’s plan to misrepresent the victim’s identity.

Mr. Wallaver was rearrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

The Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is handling the case. FDLE said the investigation remains ongoing.
